Full asset register development to ISO 14224 standard and RCM-based maintenance strategy for a floating production, storage and offloading vessel approaching end of original design life.
The FPSO was approaching the end of its original 20-year design life with aspirations for a 10-year life extension. The operator lacked a structured, ISO 14224-compliant asset register and the maintenance strategy had not been comprehensively reviewed since commissioning. A rigorous reliability-based justification was required to support the life extension business case.
Optimal built the asset register from P&IDs, equipment data sheets and physical verification — structured to ISO 14224 taxonomy. RCM analysis was then applied to all safety-critical and production-critical systems, with failure consequence modelling used to justify revised maintenance frequencies and identify condition monitoring requirements for life extension.
The operator successfully secured regulatory approval for the 10-year life extension. The ISO 14224-compliant asset register and RCM-based maintenance strategy provided the technical foundation for the submission and for ongoing asset management through the extended operating period.
